Advisory Board

For more than 40 years, Laura Welch has been a driving force in philanthropy leadership in Kansas City, Missouri and in Aspen, Colorado. She has served on the board of more than 30 nonprofit organizations, including: Founding Board Member and Vice President of Development, Jazz Aspen/Snowmass; Founding Board Member and Vice President of Development, The Aspen Brain Institute; Vice President of Development, Aspen Youth Experience; Board of Directors, Park University; Founding Board Member, Reconsider; The State Ballet of Missouri; Medical Missions Foundation; Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey; and Founding Board Member and Vice President of Development at the Midwestern Innocence Project. She has been instrumental in establishing and leading new programs, building corporate, community and individual support, and raising funds to support the arts, integrative health education, and socio-economic change.

Laura has now found her new home in beautiful Telluride, Colorado and is excited to be a part of this special community.

Dylan Brooks is a lifelong Telluride resident whose work blends professional expertise with deep community commitment. A Certified Financial Planner with more than three decades of experience, he leads a relationship‑driven advisory practice serving families, trusts, and local organizations. He is a graduate of Telluride Schools, as well as Georgetown University.

Dylan served two terms as school board director and now contributes his time and judgment through boards that support public education, the arts, and thoughtful community planning. Known for his steady leadership and collaborative style, Dylan brings the same care to his volunteer roles as he does to his clients. He and his wife Dawn have two sons who have graduated Telluride and look forward to their youngest’s graduation in 2030.

Liz Korman, from Woodside CA & Telluride CO, graduated from Wellesley College and Temple Law School, and had an action packed career in corporate law in NYC & the SF Bay Area. Eventually, Liz began advocating for reproductive rights through Planned Parenthood and NARAL (now known as Reproductive Freedom for All). For many years, Liz led the SF Peninsula chapter of NARAL, which was the most successful region in the nation, and included organizing an annual speaker event that raised $3M – $5M annually. She lobbied in Sacramento and DC for reproductive rights laws and supported candidates championing those causes. Currently, Liz is also serving on the Telluride Foundation and is excited to be part of her chosen community in Telluride.

Julia moved to Telluride in 2010 and she has lived here full-time ever since. Originally from Mexico, she is raising her four young children in a bilingual home. She has worked in the Telluride School District. Julia currently works at Tri-County Health Network as the Bilingual Cultural Navigator and the Wilkinson public library and serves on the board for Karma Tutors, and One To One and is an active member of local coalitions Raices Sin Fronteras, Collaborative Action for Immigrants, and Communities that Care. She is a leader among the local latino community and is known for her passion in supporting the mental health and sense of belonging of all those who live and work here. In 2022, Julia was named Volunteer of the Year by the Telluride Foundation. She used this award to continue to serve the local immigrant community by founding the crisis fund, Fondo Unidos. Julia started Telluride’s first latina softball team, which has made an incredibly positive impact on the women participating and the league as a whole. You can find Julia at the CrossFit gym or at local events with her family.

Liliana, her husband and son were first drawn to Telluride in 2015; they were able to make their dream to live in Telluride come true in 2022. While the beauty of the mountain landscape and outdoor activities played a big part, it was Telluride’s wonderful community that made this the best place they could ever dream of to become their full-time home. A good school is at the heart of a vibrant community, so Liliana has been actively involved in helping the Telluride School District in different capacities (as a volunteer, participating in accountability meetings, attending events, etc.). In 2024 she decided to get more involved and joined the board of the Telluride Education Foundation (TEF), focusing primarily on their grants and fundraising efforts.

Liliana was born and raised in Mexico City, she has worked in management consulting, finance, and technology companies for almost 20 years and has volunteered extensively for non-profit organizations that support education and the Hispanic community. Locally, she is also part of the Leadership Council for the Telluride Foundation and has been a mentor for two years for TVN’s Como Construir tu Negocio.

Kaylie moved to Telluride from Austin, TX with her husband, Sam, and two daughters, Stella and Lily, in June 2021. She is in constant awe of both the physical beauty of the area and the incredible community.
Kaylie was a Montessori teacher before helping to start an alternative school, Acton Academy. She went on to start a summer day camp, Neuron Garage, which serves about 2000 campers per summer at multiple locations in Austin, TX.
Kaylie is excited to work with TEF to help create community, positive experiences and enhance the educational experience for all TSD students.

Marketing major, and avid traveler turned “experience architect”, Tyler has built a hospitality career that spans building a non-profit in West Africa, several restaurants, and participating in other global events. As a master of ceremonies and corporate consultant, he blends creativity with strategy to design unforgettable lifestyle experiences. During COVID, Tyler helped take a vaccine company public as the Director of Experiences, a role that showcased his ability to connect innovation and employee zeal in corporations. Today, he curates custom events and entertainment, bringing the same energy, vision, and flair that have defined his work across industries.

Tracy McMillan Wheeler is a part-time Telluride resident and television writer, creator, TV host, relationship expert, essayist, and best-selling author of three books. Her TedX talk, The Person You Really Need to Marry has more than 17 million views. A former foster child who grew up with a dad in prison, Tracy directly credits much of her success to the Minneapolis public schools — and believes no single force has the power to change lives like public education. Tracy is married to Airstream CEO Bob Wheeler. Together they have four boys, ages 18-28. They split their time between Columbus, Ohio, Los Angeles, and (their favorite) Telluride.
