WHO WE ARE

Telluride Education Foundation is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that raises money to invest in the enrichment of K-12 education in the Telluride School District. Specifically, we raise funds for STUDENTS – experiential learning initiatives in and out of the classroom, TEACHERS & PARAEDUCATORS – grants and appreciation to encourage retention, and COMMUNITY – social emotional education.

We have awarded over $1,100,000 since our inception and currently support approximately 1000 Teachers, Paraeducators, and Students in the Telluride School District with our various granting programs.

DID YOU KNOW?

Because of the Gallagher Amendment, TABOR and Amendment 23, Colorado School Funding has been under pressure for years.

How much has the shortfall in state share been for Telluride R1 School District?

Since 2009-2010, the state has not been able to fully meet its constitutional obligation to equalize funding for school districts and the loss in state share has been tracked by the Budget Stabilization Factor (formerly known as the Negative Factor).

  •  Loss in state share for the 2020-2021 school year:  ($1,433,059)
  •  Loss in state share for the 2021-2022 school year:  ($770,729)
  • Loss in state share for the 2022-2023 school year: ($436,034)
  • Loss in state share for the 2023-2024 school year: ($195,433)
  •  Cumulative loss in state share since 2009-2010:   ($14,218,090)
